DENVER
| Six of the Wolves’ Aurora-best nine
qualifiers earned their way through to
Friday’s 12:45 p.m. quarterfinals with
opening round victories — part of an
18-11 showing by Aurora wrestlers in the
preliminaries — and coach Ryan Budd’s
team is perched in the No. 2 spot in the
team standings.

Twenty-nine wrestlers from eight Aurora
programs punched their tickets to the Class 5A state wrestling
tournament, which runs Thursday to Saturday at the Pepsi Center.

first
time
in
school
history, Grandview
is
back-to-back
Regional
Champions
and
once
again
they
did
so
in
convincing
fashion
with
three
individual
Champions,
three
second
place
finishers,
two
third's
and
one
fourth
for
a
total
of
9 qualifiers
for
the
State
Tournament.

wrestlers
to

Santillan is the first Grandview
champion at Top of the Rockies, ever!
January 18 & 19, 2019
Fabian Santillan
became the first Wolves champion, ever, over the span of 16
years the team has competed in the Centaurus hosted Top of the
Rockies tournament.
Grandview attended the first TOR tournament in January 2000 and,
after sitting out for three years, has
attended every year since 2004. TOR is known as one of the
toughest tournaments in the Rocky Mountain region where it is
common to see multiple state champions in a bracket from
Colorado and surrounding states.
Dylan Ranieri finished
third at 152 pounds with a win by fall in 57 seconds over Kase
Givens from Fort Morgan and Joe Renner finished in fourth place
in the 195 pound weight class.
