Grandview
hosted the much improved Smoky Hill Buffaloes on Thursday, January 31
and came away with a 49-27 win.
This night was designated as "Parent Night".
All wrestlers, managers and trainers were
recognized with their parents and they presented
their parents with a red rose which is known as
a symbol of love and respect.
The match started at the 103 pound weight class.
Grandview got off to a quick start with pins at
103, 112 and 119. Smoky's number five
ranked Nolan Myers got them on the board with a
pin at 125. Smoky won by fall at 130 to pull
within six points ... 18-12. Patrick Brown
put the Wolves up by 12 with a win by fall in
the first period. Grandview's number four
ranked Josh Starr was pinned by unranked Matt
Myers and Matt Fedderson lost by fall and Smoky
tied the score at 24. Bryce Lucherini's win by
decision and Cody McCutcheon's win by fall gave
Grandview a 9 point lead but Enes Ozekin's loss
by decision at 171 put the lead at six, 33-27,
going into the 189 pound weight class.
Jacob Bomareto's win by major decision followed
by pins by Penn Wade and Cody Gilmore at 215 and
285 ensured the victory and kept the Wolves
hopes alive to win their sixth straight Centennial
League championship.
