With the final seconds ticking off the clock, Jonathan Montes
Gonzales’ chances of making it to the 150-pound Class 5A state
championship match were running out.

Charlie Herting earned himself a high place on the medal podium at
last season’s Class 5A boys state wrestling tournament, but he will
be at minimum one step higher this time.
